Gas Reliance Reduction
In order to reach our Net Zero target, businesses will need to be as energy efficient as possible. Energy will need to be used and reused as efficiently as possible, and we need to stop consuming energy from fossil fuels. That means looking at alternatives to traditional central heating systems and gas boilers, such as heat pumps.
Air Source Heat Pumps
Air Source Heat pumps are being pushed heavily by the UK government as the main replacement for gas boilers.

Air source heat pumps extract heat from the air, where a compressor then increases the temperature. Finally, the heat is transferred into the heating system in your building. The air source heat pump is powered by electricity and if the electricity comes from a renewable source, this solution would be a sustainable form of heating.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme - Funding for Air Source Heat Pumps
From 1st April 2022, if your business is in England or Wales, you can apply for £5,000 worth of funding towards the costs of your air source heat pump. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a government scheme designed to help reduce our carbon emissions. It's available to businesses in England and Wales upgrading from fossil fuel or electric heating systems to a renewable system, such as heat or ground source pumps, or even bio mass boilers - if they are off the gas grid.
